RAIL passengers are set to face disruption on New Year’s Eve due to another planned strike.

South Western Railway said a reduce service will run on most of its network, including the London Waterloo to Weymouth service.

Hourly fast trains will run between London Waterloo and Bournemouth.

An hourly shuttle running between Bournemouth and Weymouth, however, Holton Heath will not be served.

There will be no stopping service between London Waterloo and Poole. Customers for stations between Bournemouth and Poole have been advised to change at Bournemouth and join the hourly shuttle between Bournemouth and Weymouth.

A reduce service will run between Brockenhurst and Lymington Pier. Two trains will run every hour between 8am and 7pm, there will be no trains between 1pm and 2pm.

The latest 24-hour strike is part of an ongoing dispute over the future role of guards on trains.

South Western Railway said: “This strike action is totally unnecessary. We have guaranteed to roster a guard on every train, and we need more, not fewer guards. Should this strike action go ahead, we will do everything we can to provide the best service possible for our customers.”
