A MAN who had a fake police ID has been fined and ordered to give up the counterfeit card.

Guy Andrew, of Christchurch Road in Bournemouth, appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court on Thursday, December 12 to admit three offences.

It was heard that the 50-year-old was arrested after stealing clothing worth £95 from Beales in Old Christchurch Road on January 26. On the same day, he was found to have the fake ID, as well as a business card with an officer's details on it.

Andrew admitted theft, possessing articles of police uniform when he wasn't a member of a police force and failing to surrender to custody on February 16.

A further charge of impersonating a special constable or member of a police force was dropped.

He was fined £60 and ordered to pay a £30 surcharge.

The fake ID and business card will be destroyed.

Last year, a man was cautioned for having a fake police badge and driving a car fitted with a covert blue light.

The man was stopped behind the wheel of a blue BMW 330 in Riverside Avenue, Bournemouth on the evening of Wednesday, September 16 2017.

Police had received reports that a vehicle had been spotted with a covert blue light in Barrack Road, Christchurch at 6.30pm that day.

After officers pulled over the BMW, they discovered a fake warrant card on the driver during a search.
