A POPULAR running event will be returning to Bournemouth in 2019.

The Bournemouth Bay Run will take place on Sunday, April 7.

Bournemouth-based insurance company Health-on-line will once again be title sponsors of the event, which will be entering its 37th year.

Supported by the British Heart Foundation, the Bournemouth Bay Run is set to welcome more than 4,500 runners to the resort to participate in a range of running events, including the popular half marathon, 10k, 5k or 1k family fun run.

Fiona Carter, brand and marketing manager at Health-on-Line, said it was a “superb event”.

“Health-on-Line are delighted to be sponsoring the Bournemouth Bay Run again next year, complementing our mission to create a healthier Bournemouth community and supporting the British Heart Foundation.

“As a local company, it was a superb event to support last year and, because of this, it really was an obvious partnership decision for us again.”

With support from new media partner Hot Radio, organisers are encouraging runners and kids to embrace a fairytale theme for the event. Last year’s theme was superheroes.

Race Director Tom Powell said: “It’s so much fun, that’s really what the day is all about and what better way to get into the spirit than to dress up and find your happily ever after?”

Online applications are now open and the closing date for entries is Friday, March 29.

A spokesperson for the Bournemouth Bay Run said: “We might be in the full swing of the festive party season, but you can keep your personal goals in check by signing up online today to participate.

So, in between the busy calendar of parties and celebrations, canapés and pigs in blankets, dig out your running shoes and make a start on those lunges.”
