A HOMELESS man who threatened to torch a Poole shop has been ordered to try to find a place to live before he is sentenced.

Dean Trott, 28, appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court on Thursday, December 13 to admit a string of offences.

His sentence has been deferred until late January so he can try to meet a range of conditions, including that he doesn't commit any further offences, that he complies with alcohol and drug treatment services and that he tries to find accommodation.

Trott admitted two counts of theft, using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent, two counts of failing to surrender to custody and criminal damage. He also pleaded guilty to threatening to burn down a Poole branch of the Co-op.

One of the defendant's guilty pleas relates to damage caused to Munchies takeaway in Old Orchard, Poole. He threw a brick through the eatery's front window on November 14.

A probation officer will write a report on Trott ahead of the sentencing hearing next month.
