A THIEF who stole a moped has been spared a prison sentence.

Craig Mansell stole the Sym moped from an address in Castlemain Avenue, Bournemouth on November 20.

The 43-year-old appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court on December 11 to admit theft, using a vehicle without appropriate insurance and possessing 5.4 grams of amphetamine.

The defendant had also been charged with fitting a fake registration plate. Prosecutors withdrew the offence.

Mansell, of Robeson Close in Tipton, West Mids, was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months. He was banned from driving for six months due to his 'repeat offending' and issued with six points on his licence.
