A car crashed into a doctor's surgery following a collision with another car.

Prince of Wales Surgery on St John Way, Poundbury, suffered internal and external damage after a car crashed into the building yesterday morning.

The car hit the wall of one of the surgery rooms following a collision with another car, which was allegedly reversing out of a space on the opposite side of the road.

A blue Toyota and and a silver Vauxhall Meriva were involved.

Police and fire services were called to the scene just before 11.30am.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 11.26am to reports of a two-vehicle collision.

"One of the vehicles went into the wall of a building.

"There are no reports of any injuries."

Luckily no one was inside the car or the surgery room at the time of the crash.

Following an inspection, the surgery was able to stay open to patients.

Staff inside the surgery said they felt the building move as the car hit the wall, and one member of staff said considerable damage has been caused inside and outside the building.

Printers were reportedly knocked onto the floor, and electrical equipment was ripped off the wall. The car was still at the scene several hours later, and staff said they were waiting for an insurance surveyor to come and inspect the damage once it had been towed away.

William Gibbons, chairman of the Poundbury Residents' Association, said: "Thankfully no one was hurt.

"I didn't see it happen, but I heard that someone was reversing and their foot slipped, and they hit the parked car.

"It was pushed back with such force that there was a huge bang inside."

A fire engine from Dorchester attended and crews made the scene safe.
