A NEW organic plant-based restaurant has arrived in The Triangle, writes Deborah Dowling. Twelve Eatery. London-based, Greg and Dalton scoured the South of England for three years before resolving that Bournemouth was the right home for their business model - and how lucky for us that they did.

Parking easily in the nearby multi-storey car park, we were unsure as to the exact location, but soon spotted the very classy exterior with it’s attractive and distinctive signage. We were warmly greeted by Dalton, welcoming us with his big smile.

The restaurant’s comfy interior has a very relaxed, tranquil atmosphere and has been lovingly furnished using entirely pure, unrefined elements with the attention to detail clearly evident. There is an ethical theme that runs right through this establishment, from minimising waste, using local produce, to the using of re-claimed oak high tables and parquet flooring. Even the beautiful colour scheme was researched to be completely animal free. Greg and Dalton are both very passionate about using only natural ingredients in both their food and materials. No plastic here!

The restaurant’s organic plant-based menu is just stunning and has been imaginatively designed to produce maximum flavour. The wine list is organic with low and no added sulphur wines on offer. The B-Twelve Burger is quite simply the best I have ever eaten and I guarantee would satisfy even the most dedicated meat eaters! The Seasonal Soup was equally delicious with spinach, tofu bacon, chives and soya cream and served with crusty basil bread and decorated with little flowers giving that special touch that Twelve does so well.

The Tagliatelle Carbonara with tofu bacon, cashew béchamel and coconut parmesan is also not to be missed. Every ingredient used is organic and Twelve can boast that only the finest quality is used in their delicious dishes.

The service was excellent and staff well trained to suggest an array of cocktails made with organic spirits and fresh raw cold-pressed juices. The unique cocktails offer a choice of low or non-alcoholic versions.

It was difficult to choose from the creative selection, but went for The Aquafaba Sour which is derived from chickpea water with an amazing organic Amaretto liqueur, lemon, agave, bitters and a Basil Luchador, delicately incorporating the infusion of organic gin, fresh basil, agave and soda, which were both absolutely divine and complimented the food perfectly.

And we also sampled Twelve’s CBD Espresso Martini made with organic vodka, organic coffee liqueur and 3 drops of CBD oil, which is unique to the restaurant. And what an amazing coffee! Twelve is the UK’s first restaurant to offer Bird & Wild coffee which is the RSPB Charity’s Official Coffee and the UK’s first certified Bird Friendly and Shade Grown coffee brand. 12% of their organic and fair trade coffee sales goes to the RSPB to support bird wildlife.

Greg and Dalton have thoughtfully and cleverly designed absolutely everything to perfection making TWELVE one of Bournemouth’s nicest restaurants. Whether you are looking for a hearty meal or just healthy juices and smoothies TWELVE’S relaxed and comfortable setting is incomparable. Enjoying a prime position and with an attractive vista, Twelve will almost certainly change people’s perception about plant-based diet - it has certainly converted me!
