A MAN who admitted being involved in a series of jewellery burglaries across Bournemouth, Poole and Purbeck has been jailed.

Dima-Adrian Angheluta, aged 34, of Porchester Place in Bournemouth, was sentenced to 20 months in prison at Bournemouth Crown Court on December 4 after admitting six charges of burglary.

The first offence occurred between 2pm and 10.30pm on October 17 at an address in Guest Avenue in Poole.

The next day, a burglary occurred in Castle Lane West in Bournemouth between 10.20am and 2.35pm.

Police say entry was gained through a ground floor window during both incidents.

A burglary was also reported in Wick Lane in Bournemouth on October 18 between 10.20am and 1.30pm. Following an attempt to force open a rear patio door, entry was then gained through a kitchen window.

Then between 9am and 4pm on October 22, another burglary occurred at a home in Castle Lane West with a side window forced open.

Similar burglaries also happened in Miles Avenue and Filluel Road in Sandford on October 23. In both incidents a kitchen window was forced open before jewellery was stolen.

The property in Filluel Road had CCTV which showed a man going down the side of the house at 10.40am and reappearing at around 11am before heading in the direction of Miles Avenue.

Angheluta was arrested at an address in Boscombe on October 24 after being linked to a vehicle seen at one of the burglaries.

A number of items of jewellery were recovered under his bed which were subsequently identified as some of those stolen in the burglaries.

When interviewed by officers, Angheluta claimed he had simply acted as a driver for another man – who he only knew by the nickname ‘Rata’ – and that he had never actually gone into any of the properties.

Police say enquiries are ongoing to locate the second suspect believed to be involved.

Detective Sergeant Adam Woolman, of Dorset Police’s Priority Crime Team, said: “Even if Angheluta did just act as a driver for an accomplice, he was nevertheless a willing participant who helped to facilitate a series of burglaries targeting homes across Bournemouth, Poole and Purbeck.

“Through our investigations we were able to identify Angheluta as being involved in these offences and recovered a large amount of the items that were stolen.”
