A MAN has died in an industrial accident at waste and recycling centre in Poole.

Emergency services were called to FDS Waste Services, Mannings Heath Road, Poole, yesterday morning.

The victim, aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dorset Police, who are carrying out a joint investigation with the Health & Safety Executive, have not released any details of how the man died.

It is not known if the man was an employee or a visitor to the site.

Staff manning the gate at the premises politely declined to make any comment when approached by the Daily Echo.

In 2010 the company's director, Philip Pidgley, was ordered to pay almost £3,500 in fines and costs for breaking the terms of his permit after one-and-a-half tonnes of asbestos was found on the premises.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust confirmed: “We were called at 10.46am and have attended with the air ambulance, an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and an operations officer.” Vehicles were being turned away from the site throughout the afternoon

A Dorset Police collision investigation vehicle was also on scene, while specially-trained officers examined the accident site in a bid to determine what had happened.
