FLOODING on the top deck of a town centre car park will be investigated, the council has said.

At a meeting of the resources committee last week, members discussed a report on the council's car park operations, which revealed the authority was £61,000 better-off than it predicted it would be at the beginning of the year.

It said the income was expected to exceed budget thanks in part to the hot summer and popularity of the council's amenity car parks.

During the discussion, members heard that reconfiguration of some of the car parks had started but been temporarily put on hold for the Christmas period.

Jonathan Ross, property, engineering and parking manager said they would look at the problem in Saxon Square car park with flooding.

Cllr Lesley Dedman raised the issue, saying the steps in the car park were slippery when wet.

She also said about winter charging at Steamer Point: They (residents) were against the Steamer Point winter charging and I hope it has been worthwhile because I am still getting complaints.

"I am sure it has been financially worth it but it has caused a lot of inconvenience."

The report was noted.
