A FILM made by a Bournemouth cancer charity has been nominated for a national award.

Dance Beats Cancer was created by Youth Cancer Trust with Fraser Freeze in October 2017, and was entered into the Charity Film Awards.

The film features local and professional performers, against a backdrop of Bournemouth scenery, using dance, graffiti art and a little bit of magic, to tell the story of a young person's journey from diagnosis through to recovery, finding support along the way.

Included in the film is footage of a community dance day, with more than 200 people gathering on Bournemouth seafront to support the work of Youth Cancer Trust. The film was launched as part of an evening of dance performance and has now become an annual event ‘Dance Beats Cancer Reunion’ with a community of friends and supporters.

It aims to raise awareness about the work of the charity in supporting teenagers and young adults with cancer, through the provision of free activity based holidays in Bournemouth.

A year on from the film release, YCT has been nominated for the Charity Film Awards, which will serve to further raise awareness of the trust and reach out to more young cancer patients.

Voting closes at midnight on December 14. To view the video and support YCT, visit charityfilmawards.com/videos/dance-beats-cancer.
