BOURNEMOUTH council has been ranked as the third most improved in a national league table.
Improvements in the ‘productivity’ of its social care work have been the main drivers of the authority climbing from a ranking of 111 out of 150 in 2017 to 61 this year.
Despite this, the council’s second-place ranking for its waste services has been lost – dropping to 18th in the study, which has been carried out by consultancy firm Impower.
The rankings rate each local authority’s children’s services, older people, disability, social care, housing and waste departments by their outcomes against the amount of money it has spent.
Bournemouth council’s children’s services work was its weakest area, ranking as the 111th best while its work with the disabled was the 14th best in the country.
