NEW sports facilities and workshops for design and technology will be provided at Bournemouth School for Girls.
The school is one of 16 grammar schools across the country to receive funding for expansion under the Department for Education's Selective Schools' Expansion Fund.
It will receive just under £1 million and head teacher Alistair Brien said the school is committed to increase opportunities for more disadvantaged pupils to join the school in Castle Gate Close.
He said: "We have committed to increase our annual intake from 166 to 180 pupils as part of the local authority's plans to meet increasing numbers of pupils coming in to our secondary schools.
"We look forward to working with even more primary schools to help us achieve this aim. This news marks a fitting end to our centenary year."
