A UNIQUE version of the nativity will be staged in Poole this weekend.

Starting at Poole Quay, the nativity will be performed at various locations in Poole’s Old Town on Saturday (December 8) and will culminate in the grounds of St James’ Church.

There will be two one-hour performances, one at 4pm and another at 6pm.

Budding local actors Kelly and Neil Tilsed will be taking on the lead roles of Mary and Joseph with a full supporting cast. Neil, who is also a local carpenter, is even building the stable for the performance.

The script has been specially written by Colin Heber-Percy, who has written for TV shows Casualty and Priest.

Rev. Lucy Holt said “This is the first time a moving nativity has been performed in Poole and we are delighted that it has attracted so much enthusiasm. Poole Tourism and Poole BID have both been extremely supportive, and we are looking forward to seeing as many residents and visitors as possible join us and enjoy what is the foundation of our Christmas celebrations.”

After the performances, the audience will be welcomed into St James’ to see the Christmas trees that will line the church.

Tickets are available now from St James’ Church office and at poolequaynativity.co.uk priced £5 per adult and £2 children. Funds will go the church restoration and to support its many charitable undertakings.
