At the top of the hill on the south-west pavement in Fordington High Street is a collapsed wall, and the rubble is surrounded by plastic fencing on which, ironically is a sign saying “Danger – Men at Work”.
It has been like this for many months, with never any sign of any men working on it to clear it.
It effectively reduces the width of the pavement to half and with a precipitous drop to the road, makes walking along it a dangerous business. What remains of the pavement is too narrow to permit safe passage of child buggies or disability scooters.
It is unclear as to where responsibility for this damaged wall lies – be it the council or the owner of the adjacent property; either was, repair to the damage and clearance of the obstruction is long overdue.
