THREE men have been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm after police shut a major road on Wednesday.

The A351 Wareham Road was closed between Stoborough and Norden due to a police incident.

Police say three men are in their custody.

A spokesperson said: "At about 2.50pm today, officers stopped a vehicle along the A351 near to the Halfway Inn as part of an ongoing investigation in relation to the alleged supply of drugs.

"Three local men aged 26, 39 and 55 have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and drug offences and are assisting officers with enquiries.

"The road was closed for a short time to allow officers to seize the vehicle for examination. It reopened at 3.30pm."
