JUST in time for New Year's resolutions LiveWell Dorset is placing personalised healthy living advice online.

After completing a short lifestyle assessment, MyLiveWell users can create their own healthy living profile by identifying barriers and enabling users to record their steps to success.

Public Health Dorset Head of Programmes Stuart Burley, said: “The health of the nation is at a critical point. We know that 70 per cent of adults have two or more unhealthy habits and we want to change that in Dorset."

He claimed the tool could improve health and wellbeing on a large scale. "We’ve helped over 20,000 people take steps to get healthy to date and plan to support many more thousands in the future,” he said.

Trial users say they have lost up to five stone in six months and have felt supported to take up activities such as running.

LiveWell Dorset is provided by Public Health Dorset, a partnership of Bournemouth Borough Council, Dorset County Council and the Borough of Poole. By registering online or calling the Weymouth-based contact centre, residents can access healthy living advice and coaching. Advisors offer lifestyle guidance and support choices and coaches offer one-to-one telephone consultations. Advisors and coaches direct clients to a range of opportunities including discounts to local gyms and weight loss group vouchers.
