VETERANS were recognised for their long service and dedication to a club for ex-servicemen.
Several members of the Pokesdown and Southbourne Ex-Servicemen's Club were awarded 'Live Vice President' awards during a special lunch held to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War One.
The Mayor of Bournemouth, Derek Borthwick, presented the awards, the first of which was given to Robin Thomas for his leadership and support throughout 30 years in office at the club.
Bob Paget received an award in recognition for his dedication to entertainment at the club, and David Mitchell was awarded posthumously for his outstanding contribution as treasurer.
The club was founded in 1922 with an ethos to promote ‘esprit de corps’ among retired armed forces of all ranks.
The club's president thanked the mayor for attending the event and presented him with a donation of £100 for the Bournemouth Leukaemia Fund.
