A WOMAN was pulled from the water near Poole's Twin Sails Bridge on Saturday evening.

Police and RNLI crews were called out shortly after 7pm to reports of a person in the water on the Hamworthy side of the bridge.

The woman, who was rescued by police officers and given first aid by lifeboat crews, has been taken to hospital.

A spokesperson from the RNLI said: "Both Poole lifeboats were requested to launch by the coastguard shortly after 7pm to a report of a person in the water on the Hamworthy side of the bridge.

"There was a strong breeze and it was raining.

"The lifeboats were soon on scene. Crews found the casualty had been recovered from the water by the police.

"Our volunteers helped to administer first aid, immobilised the person onto a stretcher and carried her to the ambulance standing by on the Hamworthy side. She was then taken to hospital."
