GOING For Bust, a breast cancer charity with shops throughout East Dorset, has awarded Bournemouth Hospital Charity with a £10,000 donation to go towards the cost of providing a cancer care specialist nurse.

Each year, the charity fundraises for a cancer care specialist nurse who provides an informal one-stop service to people affected by a cancer diagnosis. The donation from Going For Bust will help to fund this additional service.

The cancer care nurse provides support to any patient undergoing chemotherapy and has in this past year supported over 200 patients undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Bournemouth Hospital Charity fundraising head Debbie Anderson said: "We are very grateful to Going for Bust for their continued support of our work at RBH for breast cancer patients - over the years they have supported purchase of various pieces of equipment.

"This latest donation towards our cancer care specialist nurse supports the extra facilities that the hospital charity exists for and funds as it is over and above what NHS funding allows.”

Going for Bust has donated over £40,000 to the charity since 2015 towards equipment to make treatment for breast cancer surgery patients easier and more convenient.

Going for Bust opened its first shop committed to fundraising solely for Breast Cancer in 2013 and have since gone on to open a further eleven shops, with a support centre opening in Wimborne in early 2019.
