TRIBUTE has been paid to the man who died in a collision in Winchester last week.

Officers were called at 6.06am on Friday 16 November to the B2177 Portsmouth Road, near the junction with Thompsons Lane which leads to Marwell Zoo.

The collision involved an Orange Renault Megane and a black Alfa Romeo.

The Alfa Romeo driver, a 23-year-old man from Curdridge, was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment to potentially life-changing injuries.

Cory's family said in a statement: "R.I.P. Cory Martin. You will never be forgotten. Our love will be with you always and you will be sorely missed by your family, partner and children. We Love You."

Police officers and firefighters from Bishop's Waltham, Eastleigh and Redbridge rushed to the scene, while South Central Ambulance Service sent its Hazardous Area Response Team and two ambulances.

At the time, drivers were told to avoid the area and use alternative routes, as the road was closed in both directions for several hours.
