A WOMAN in her 60s was the victim of an attempted robbery as she walked along Bournemouth seafront on Sunday night.
The victim was with a man in his 70s when the incident happened near the pier at 8pm.
The pair were walking towards Durley Chine when they were approached from behind by two men. One tried to grab the woman's handbag from her grasp.
However, she managed to keep hold of the bag.
The would-be robbers then ran off along the promenade before making off up the West Cliff zig zag.
Police have described the first man is white, aged in his early teens to early 20s and of medium build. He was wearing a heavy green coat with a black hooded top underneath. The hood was up over his head.
He was also wearing dark trousers and black shoes and carrying a small shoulder bag.
The second man is described as white, aged in his late teens to early 20s and of slim build. He was wearing a light grey hooded top, grey skinny jeans and dark shoes. He had a black rucksack on his back.
Detective Constable Rebecca Joyce, of Bournemouth CID, said officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the seafront.
