More than 200 trains are cancelled across the South Western Railway network this morning due to overrunning engineering works.

Weymouth trains are among those affected.

Due to overrunning Network Rail engineering works between London Waterloo and Surbiton all lines are blocked.

South Western Railway said train services across the whole of their network may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Services cancelled include the 7.25am from Weymouth to London Waterloo, the 7.55am service from Weymouth to London Waterloo, the 8.20am service from Weymouth to London Waterloo and the 9.03am from Weymouth to London Waterloo.

The 9.20am from Weymouth to London Waterloo is also cancelled.

A South Western Railway spokesperson said: “The Network Rail engineering works were originally due to be cleared by 4.30am this morning however, the works will now not be cleared until 8.30am at the earliest. Until the works clear no trains can leave Wimbledon or Clapham Junction depots.”

Rail users will be able to travel on the Cross Country services between Bournemouth and Reading.
