Hundreds of Santas will be running around Dorchester for Weldmar Hospicecare’s annual Santa Fun Run.
The charity run will return for the eighth year as the Santas take off from Dorchester Rugby Club on Sunday, December 2 before making their way around Poundbury for two miles before returning to the club for festive refreshments.
Over the years this event has helped raise over £30,000 to help with vital funds for the local charity to support patients and their families across Dorset.
Weldmar Hospicecare is a charity that provides end of life care for people living in Dorset who need specialist support.
All the care they provide is free and reliant on public donations as 75% of their funds are raised thanks to the support of the local community at events such as this.
Fiona Hansford, Fundraiser at Weldmar, said, “The Santa Fun Run is always such a fantastic event.
“The sight of hundreds of running Santas is quite the sight to behold. We encourage people of all ages and abilities to take part with the whole family, what a great start to Christmas.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank the Dorchester Rugby Club once again for their support in hosting us.”
For participants aged ten and over, the entry fee is £15, for children between the ages of five and nine the fee is £10 and for little ones under the age of five it is free.
The cost to enter will pay for your place as well as a Santa suit for you to take part in and a medal waiting for you after the race.
There is no minimum sponsorship, just raise as much as you can for Weldmar Hospicecare and of course, have fun and get into the festive spirit.
