Residents living near a parkour area at Dorchester’s Sandringham playing field are to be asked what they want to see happen on the site.

The area was taken out of action earlier this year after being attacked by vandals, set on fire and fences broken down.

Deputy town clerk Steve Newman said there had only been one query about the site not being used – from a group which used to use the site for parkour training. He told the town council policy committee on Tuesday that the equipment could not be moved elsewhere as it would disintegrate once lifted out of the ground.

Mr Newman said that another parkour area may be provided in the future by the Duchy of Cornwall at the town’s Great Field.

Councillors decided to ask the local residents association suggest what they would like to see on the site.
