A RESIDENT of exclusive Sandbanks asked a member of staff at a Cornwall Travelodge if they could drive to Poole to check the house alarm was on.

The hotel chain has released some of its most 'bizarre requests' in 2018, with the Sandbanks homeowner's appeal to workers in St Austell making the top 10.

According to Travelodge, the visitor said: "I can’t remember if I turned my house alarm on.

"Can you drive to my house in Sandbanks and check?"

One guest of the hotel on the seafront at Bournemouth asked: "Can you go on a blind date for me?"

Another visitor to the same hotel hoped staff would take over a key parenting responsibility for the night, asking: "Can you read and act out a bedtime story to my children?"

Workers at the branch in Christchurch Road once had to field questions from a guest who asked if the bar and café could be transformed into an indoor ice rink, while another visitor asked if staff would write a PowerPoint presentation for them.

Shakila Ahmed of Travelodge said: "Our hotel teams receive thousands of unusual requests from business and leisure travellers.

"Where possible, the teams will go above and beyond to help customers. They do like a good challenge."
