THE BMX National Series will be making a return to Bournemouth for the first time in nine years.
The Bournemouth BMX Club at Iford Playing Fields has secured a round of the 2019 HSBC National BMX Series.
Some of the country’s best riders will be taking to the track on Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11.
The club, which is one of the oldest in the country, will host the last round of the National Series, two weeks after the World Championships in Holland and two weeks before the British Championships in Derby.
Bournemouth BMX has been working for the last five years to bring the National Series back to Bournemouth.
It will be the first time the competition has visited Bournemouth since 2010.
Michael Whittaker, Bournemouth BMX Club’s chairman, said: “We’re honoured to be hosting the National Series after a break of several years. Racers love our track which has something for everyone, and our plan is to deliver a fun festival feel. There’s no better place for a race in August.”
