Strictly is coming to Dorset this December as Weldmar Hospicecare’s ‘Strictly Ballroom’ contest returns for its best year ever.

The competition has been running since 2013 and has proven to be a huge success with audiences at the Weymouth Pavilion.

So far, with the help of the local community, the event has helped to raise over £70,000 for the local charity.

Weldmar Hospicecare is a charity that provides end of life care for people living in Dorset who need specialist support. Their compassionate approach supports patients and their families, medically and in other ways, in the community, in the hospice and at home. All the care they provide is free and reliant on public donations.

Clair Walker at Weldmar Hospicecare said: “After many weeks of perfecting their routines, eighteen brave individuals will take to the stage on Friday 7th December to perform their Strictly Ballroom Finale at the Weymouth Pavilion in front of a packed audience and a panel of judges.”

Eileen and Gemma from the Eileen Spracklen School of Dance generously give up their time free of charge and have been busy coaching the Class of 2018.

Gemma Fulbrook said: “We have had such fun training, and this is set to be our biggest and best strictly yet.

“The contestants are busy perfecting their routines and fundraising for Weldmar so please buy a ticket to come and show your support.”

Also performing on the night will be the Class of 2016, performers from The Studio and the winners of this year’s Strictly Junior competition – Let’s Dance.

Weldmar Hospicecare’s services need more than £18,000 every day in order to provide vital end of life care for patients and support to their families across Dorset. Therefore, participants are required to raise a minimum sponsorship of £400 and all funds raised will go towards the charity.

Tickets are now available from the Weymouth Pavilion website and are selling fast so make sure you get your tickets as soon as possible to ensure you do not miss out on what is set to be a great night of entertainment whilst helping to raise vital funds for your local charity.
