PEOPLE living in Dorset should be proud of their local NHS. That’s the message from Tim Goodson, Chief Officer NHS Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group following recent inspections by the Care Quality Commission at the county's major health providers.
Poole Hospital, the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals Trust, Dorset HealthCare, South Western Ambulance Service and Dorset County Hospital have all been rated as 'good' in their most recent inspections, he said.
“At a time when the NHS is seeing increased demands and a number of significant challenges, having all our major providers rated as Good is testament to the continuing hard work of everyone in the NHS throughout the county, and I am both delighted and proud that we have achieved this," he said.
During a visit the CQC inspects eight core services to ensure they are safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led.
The eight core services include urgent and emergency services (A&E), medical care (including older people's care), surgery, critical care, maternity and gynaecology, children and young people's services, end of life care and outpatient services.
