A PEDESTRIAN was flown to hospital by air ambulance last night after he was involved in a crash near Corfe Mullen.
The casualty, a 52-year-old local man, is critically ill following the collision, which happened at 5.55pm yesterday, Monday, November 12.
Police were called to Wimborne Road at the junction of Wayground Road after the pedestrian was involved in a crash with a black VW Golf.
The air ambulance landed at nearby Lockyer's Middle School and the casualty was flown to Southampton General Hospital. His condition is described as critical but stable.
The driver of the Golf was uninjured.
Road closures were put in place in Wimborne Road between the Lake Gates roundabout and Higher Merley Lane to allow the emergency services to deal with the incident.
The roads were reopened just before 1am today.
Sergeant Craig Tatton, of Dorset Police's traffic unit, said: “I would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place."
He urged anyone who was travelling along Wimborne Road at the relevant time and may have seen the vehicle or pedestrian involved to contact police.
“I would also ask anyone who was travelling in the area and may have relevant dashcam footage to please make contact," he said.
