I HAVE written to Matt Hancock MP, secretary of state for health, who is to review the decision taken by the Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which means we will be losing in Poole our accident and emergency service from the centre of town.

We are losing our maternity and child paediatric units out of the town and we’re losing 400 beds in Poole Hospital together with the loss of beds in some outlying districts.

I’ve also written to the leader of Poole council, Janet Walton. to express my concern that they have so far failed to scrutinise this decision by the Dorset CCG as I understand they are obliged to so do. I have also copied the letter to the local MP Robert Syms and to my ward councillors, Vishal Gupta and Mike White.

With all the extra money promised to the NHS in the recent budget it beggars belief that this decision by the Dorset CCG would be allowed to go ahead.

I would urge all readers to send an email to Matt Hancock, secretary of state for health, expressing the view that this decision should not go ahead, as this is possibly the last chance we have to save Poole A&E, our maternity and child paediatric units, the loss of beds in Poole Hospital and in other local areas.
