PREPARATIONS are underway for Beaulieu’s first ever illuminated Christmas trail.

More than one million lights will be placed throughout the grounds of the New Forest attraction in a mile-long trail which will feature over 11 individual installations.

The series of light features will lead visitors from a scented Fire Garden to a projection show using the backdrop of the Palace House.

Specialists Culture Creative will bring Christmas at Beaulieu to life, led by director Zoe Bottrell who has worked on many illuminated trails including Christmas at Kew and Christmas at Blenheim.

Visitors will also be able to walk beneath 100,000 twinkling lights the Tunnel of Light and enjoy the “sights and sounds of Christmas” as they make their way through the grounds.

Father Christmas and his elves who will be greeting visitors from the roof of Beaulieu’s veteran bus.

While the Icicle Walk, larger-than-life gleaming shards will guide visitors towards the Meadow of Light where thousands of fibre optic lights sway in unison.

At the end of the trial, people will be treated to a "cheerful Christmas blast of colour and light".

Christmas at Beaulieu takes place between November 23 and December 24.
