TWO flood warnings have been issued for parts of Dorset with “extremely dangerous” conditions expected later today.
The Environment Agency warnings have been issued for high tide tonight.
The flood warnings have been issued for Swanage Bay and Christchurch Harbour Side for two hours from 9.45pm.
A flood warning means flooding is expected, and immediate action is required.
In Swanage, large sand bags have been placed as a temporary defence.
People are advised to stay behind these defences as there is a "significant risk of people being swept away.”
The Environment Agency is also advising people to stay away from the Quomps and Mudeford Quay areas in Christchurch.
It warned that due to the combination of high tide levels, large waves and very strong and gale force winds it will be "extremely dangerous."
Strong winds are forecast to cause waves overtopping sea defences and sea spray at Christchurch Harbour between 7.45pm and 11.45pm.
Tides are expected to be higher than usual. People are advised to stay away from risk areas and take care next to the coast.
The Environment Agency said it would continue to monitor the situation at Christchurch Harbour.
The forecast high tide level is 1.38 mAOD, this is 0.61 metres above astronomical tide level.
