TEMPORARY flood barriers have been installed along Swanage seafront after concerns about the poor weather.

A stretch of the High Street and the Square will be shut to traffic for several days while the barriers are in place.

A spokesperson from Dorset County Council said: "The barriers will remain in place until the flood risk has receded."

Yesterday morning, Christchurch Quay flooded as wind and rain lashed Dorset.

The Met Office issued a warning for heavy rain in the county during the day.

The yellow warning – meaning be aware – was valid from just after midnight until yesterday afternoon.

Flood alerts were also issued for Christchurch, Poole and Lymington yesterday morning.

However, forecasters say the weather is set to improve, with sunshine predicted today.
