A POOLE photographer is in the running for a prestigious award.

John Moors, who owns JBM Photography in Poole, has been shortlisted for Photographer of the Year 2018 at the Xperience Portrait Awards.

The ceremony will take place later this month.

John said: “I was so excited when I heard the news and my client is over the moon when I told her and fingers crossed for the final”.

Mark Cleghorn, training director of The Xperience Group and multi-award-winning photographer said: “The standard of photography in this year’s awards is amazing, and to think that all the images entered are from real client shoots on the day and under the pressure of the moment.”

Mr Moors has been in photography for over 20 years, and his photography has won awards, including the overall title of Portrait Photographer of the Year in 2016.

He said: "When you love what you do it can never be classed as a job and striving for a better customer experience and seeing the results on their walls makes my career even more fantastic.”

There are 11 categories in the competition, including families, little miss and equestrian, and the winner from each category will get a 20x16 wall portrait to the value of £500.
