THE winner of the Daily Echo and Castle Cameras 2018 Air Festival competition has collected his prize.

Carl Draper from Bournemouth was presented with a £300 Castle Cameras voucher after wowing the judges with his picture of excitable beach goers cheering on the Red Arrows at this year's event.

Carl chose a backpack as part of his prize.

It was the second year Carl had entered the annual competition which attracts hundreds of entries.

Racheal Tattum from Castle Cameras said: "It was lovely to see the entries based around the new theme this year 'spirit of the festival'. Clearly the winning selection depicted this. The winning photo really sums up the atmosphere of all the spectators waiting to see the famous Red Arrows fly over the white hotel."

She added: "The lifeguard, the crowd on the beach, the white hotel and the crowds on the zig zag hill sums up the Air Festival."

The runner-up was Mark Thompson who won £100 worth of Castle Cameras vouchers.

The 2019 Bournemouth Air Festival will take place between Thursday, August 29 and Sunday, September 1.
