DORSET’S first floating gin bar will open its doors this weekend in the run up to the festive season.

The refurbished vintage Dorset Queen with its Speakeasy, prohibition style gin bar will be moored near the garden of the South Deep Cafe within Parkstone Bay Marina.

Jon Morgan, managing director of Dorset Cruises Ltd told the Daily Echo:

“After a highly successful summer season operating private and corporate charters and the popular gin cruises around Poole Harbour, Dorset Queen now returns home to Parkstone Bay Marina for the winter as Dorset’s first floating gin bar.

“Dorset Queen will remain in the tranquility of the marina whilst serving up a selection of 20 artisan gins, draught lager, local ale, wines and spirits.”

Jon added the vessel, which was lovingly restored a few years ago, was ready for the festive season: “She has been modified for the winter and her fully heated saloon and newly enclosed aft deck can comfortably accommodate up to 50 guests.”

Probation 1938 will be open every Friday and Saturday night from Saturday, November 3 until Saturday, December 22.

“This will be Dorset’s first floating bar and we feel we can offer a completely unique and memorable 1930’s experience to all our guests over the festive period,” adds Jon.

Prohibition 1938 opens her doors this Saturday from 5pm to 10pm.
