OVERNIGHT maintenance work will take place on the Wessex Way for three nights this week.

The Wessex Way will be shut completely between County Gates and St Pauls Roundabout on Monday night (November 5).

On Tuesday, both outbound lanes will be closed between St Pauls Roundabout and south of Cooper Dean.

Both inbound lanes will be closed south of Cooper Dean to St Pauls Roundabout on Wednesday.

The work will begin at 8.30pm each night.

Bournemouth council will be carrying out pruning, litter clearance and gully cleansing. There will also be some "minor" carriageway repairs as well as a deep clean of channel lines and a number of road signs.

Diversions will be in place during the closures and a council spokesperson said the works will take no more than seven hours each night.

The spokesperson added: “This work is being done during off-peak hours as traffic flows are very light and will minimise the impact on road users.

“Tree and vegetation maintenance is essential to keep signs and safety fencing clear in accordance with legislative requirements.”
