POLICE are hunting a robber who threatened a 19-year-old with a steak knife last night.
The victim was approached on the footbridge between Marryat Road and Davis Field, New Milton, at 7.30pm on Friday.
The offender, who was wearing a white zip-up top and black tracksuit bottoms, demanded the victim's mobile phone, cash and bag. Officers investigating the robbery say the offender held out a steak knife before grabbing the victim's phone and making off.
However, another man who saw the robbery taking place then chased the offender and managed to get the victim's phone back.
A spokesperson from Hampshire police has called for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the force on 101 quoting 44180412656.
Officers have not identified the Good Samaritan who chased the robber. A spokesperson said: "We are especially keen to speak to the man who helped to retrieve the victim's phone."
