Rail services between Weymouth and Wareham are at a standstill due to a signalling problem.
South Western Railway (SWR) has warned that trains running to and from these stations may be delayed or revised due to a signalling problem in the Dorchester area.
Network Rail are aware of the issue and are working to fix the fault.
SWR says trains between London Waterloo and Weymouth will now start and terminate at Wool station and a shuttle service will run between Weymouth and Dorchester South in both directions.
This service is due to depart Weymouth at 20 minutes past every hour and depart Dorchester South at 49 minutes past every hour until further notice.
Three replacement bus services are operating between Dorchester South and Wool, running in either direction until further notice.
SWR says a futher bus is en route and will be in place to assist at around 7.30pm.
Tickets are being accepted on Great Western Railway services between Dorchester West and Salisbury, from where commuters can catch a service for London Waterloo.
Disruption is expected until 8pm today.
