DEVELOPERS have tabled initial plans to build up to 143 homes on green belt land near Ringwood.

Gladman Developments Ltd has submitted a statement to New Forest District Council as they look to screen opinion on their proposals for fields on both sides of Snails Lane off the A338 Salisbury Road.

The applicants hope to submit an outline application for the scheme, with most of the properties being located on grazing land.

Overall, the application site covers 11.23 hectares across three parcels of land.

Access to the development would be from Snails Lane and the A338 Salisbury Road, with a 50 per cent affordable housing provision in the new homes.

Gladman’s statement says: “The proposed development would deliver a range of market and affordable housing types, with amenity space provide in the form of dedicated, private and shared amenity space.

“Residential buildings could be expected to comprise a range of types and tenures, accessed via a hierarchy of estate roads to private drives.”

The screening opinion is needed to determine the level of environmental investigation required before a planning application can be submitted.
