A YOUNG man involved in a head-on smash along a notorious accident blackspot has died.
The 19-year-old died from his injuries at Dorset County Hospital yesterday afternoon following Monday's accident just outside Wimborne.
Parish bosses say they have been trying for years to get the speed limit on the "death trap" road lowered.
As reported in the Daily Echo on Tuesday, the man from Corfe Mullen suffered serious injuries in the collision on the B3082 near Kingston Lacy.
His Vauxhall Corsa had been heading towards Blandford along the Badbury Rings road when it was in collision with a BMW and a 32-tonne heavy goods DAF vehicle at around 4pm.
A woman from Corfe Mullen and her nine-year-old son travelling in the BMW towards Blandford were treated at the scene for the shock, as was the driver of the lorry heading in the opposite direction.
The B3082 is a recognised accident blackspot. During the past five years, three people have died following unrelated road traffic accidents and four more have been seriously injured.
Chairman of Pamphill and Shapwick Parish Council Cllr Vera Ricketts said the road was a "death trap".
"We've been trying everything we can for years for something to be done, but keep banging our heads against brick walls," she said.
A spokesman from Dorset Police says it would be inappropriate to make a comment about the road.
"But our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time," he added.
