PLANE enthusiasts rushed to Bournemouth Airport on Saturday to catch a glimpse of a rare sight for the runway in Hurn.
A British Airways Boeing 747-400 flew into view before midday after travelling over from New York.
However, there were no passengers onboard the flight, which landed at Bournemouth Airport for engineering and maintenance work.
It is understood the aircraft had been at John F. Kennedy International Airport for more than a week.
The plane left New York at 5:48am and landed at 11.53am.
Many residents rushed to Hurn to catch a glimpse of the 70-metre long aeroplane, which can hold up to 345 passengers.
A spokeswoman for BA said: "The aircraft is in Bournemouth for planned engineering and maintenance work."
