ENDOSCOPIES can be one of the most miserable medical procedures but thanks to fund-raisers, patients at the Royal Bournemouth hospital could now have a better time.

After months of fundraising from Bournemouth Hospital Charity, the Endoscopy team has welcomed two new Insufflators. The machines improve the patient experience by reducing pain and reducing readmission rate,s and the Endoscopy unit routinely uses four in its day-to-day practice.

The £3,000 for the Insufflators was raised by cake sales, raffles and from donations by patients.

Endoscopy Sister Samantha Hornby-Wykes and her team took part in fundraising activities for the new equipment.

“With the support of local companies donating prizes and our lovely patients making monetary donations, we managed to raise the funds for these machines, which will alleviate some of the discomfort experienced by patients during their procedure," she said.
