MORE than £1m in annual savings are being proposed by altering transport support funding, with some New Forest bus services facing cut backs.

Proposals following Hampshire County Council's (HCC) Passenger Transport Review 2018, set out a total of £1.1m in savings per year through various measures.

This includes changing some county-backed bus services and grants, as well as streamlines support services and some concessionary fares on community transport schemes.

In the New Forest, the morning peak journey on the Bluestar 6 service from Lymington to Southampton would be retimed.

The Saturday service on the 112 bus between Hythe and Lymington would be axed, while the T3/T4 and H1/H2 buses would operate Monday to Friday at inter-peak times only.

Routes provided by the C32/33 New Forest Cango would not be changed, but funding provided from the community transport budget.

The detailed proposals are due to be discussed at a meeting of HCC's economy, transport and environment select committee on Monday (29.10).
