POLICE have released a photo of a man they want to speak after a cyclist was bitten by a dog in Poole.

The victim, a local man in his 40s, was cycling through Bourne Valley Park sometime between 7am and 7.30am on Monday, October 1, 2018, when he was approached by one of two German Shepherds.

The cyclist’s pedal struck the dog, which reacted by biting the man’s leg.

Police said the bite did not penetrate the victim’s skin as he was wearing three layers of clothing and a chain guard but he did report that it hurt throughout the day.

Then on Sunday, October 14, 2018, the same dog approached the cyclist.

The man got off his bike and placed the bike between him and the dog before asking the owner to control his pet.

The owner, described as a white man aged in his 70s or 80s who uses a walking stick, said he usually has the dog on the lead.

During the conversation the victim took a photo of a man on his phone.

Anyone who recognises the man pictured should contact Dorset Police quoting occurrence number 55180166855.
