A TEENAGE musician has been awarded £250 to further his studies.
Robert Hughes, 17, was given a cheque by war correspondent Kate Adie OBE after he won the 2018 Dee Butterfield Scholarship for Young People through the Mackrell Charity.
Robert, who plays both the piano and cello, is currently studying for his A-levels at Poole Grammar School. He plans to read music composition at university.
He said he was "delighted" to win and will use the fund to buy advanced composition software.
Katy Norman of the Mackrell Charity said: "We were impressed by Robert's commitment to, and passion for, his musical studies, and we are delighted to be able to make a contribution to his future."
The scholarship is open to young people aged 11 to 19 on September 1 2019 with a connection to Sturminster Marshall. For information, call 01258 857528.
