THE approach to debating major decisions ahead of Local Government Reorganisation will require councillors to "suck it and see" as they go before members for the first time next month.
Members of the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Shadow Authority executive committee are set for a busy series of meetings over the coming months ahead of the councils merger next year.
The November meeting includes items on the delegation of waste function in Christchurch, the Hillbourne Masterplan and Herbert Avenue temporary accommodation in Poole, and a grant for expansion projects at secondary schools in Bournemouth.
Cllr Mike Greene, Bournemouth portfolio holder for transport, asked officers for clarification on the procedure for dealing with items on the executive committee agenda.
Tanya Coulter, Shadow Authority interim monitoring officer, said it is expected a report will be presented by the relevant officer.
Cllr Greene said: "I wonder if there is a better way to fulfill our statutory duty without bringing in officers and member contributions to this meeting itself."
Bournemouth council deputy leader Cllr Nicola Greene suggested adding the relevant portfolio holder to items and looking at them in advance.
Cllr Greene agreed with this approach. He added: "We are going to have to suck it and see on the first meeting [in November]. We should be prepared to have an urgent review if it hasn't worked."
