AN ARCADE owner has spoken of his fury after two thieves broke into his premises.

The pair forced their way into a storage unit behind Happidrome in Marine Parade, Southend.

Business owner Martin Richardson has managed to catch the pair on his CCTV camera systems which are all around his business.

The camera footage shows the pair, thought to be two men, attempting to gain entry to the storage unit behind the popular arcade.

It then shows them looking and walking around the building while they searched for another way to enter it.

The arcade owner said the incident has caused him huge inconvenience.

He said: “We found out about what had happened the following day when we got to the arcade.

“They arrived in a white van, and then decided to cut their way into the fenced off area behind the arcade and decided to break in.

“They were caught on the CCTV walking around and trying different doors to get in.

“In the end they smashed a window with a rock and then climbed inside the storage building.

“They then searched about and made a mess and then they left.

“I don’t think they took anything.

“It just shows the petty mindlessness of these people and I think it was just optimists who are doing this.

“I put it on social media and the power of this shows as I have already have a couple of names given to me.

“These people cannot keep going about thinking it’s ok to break in and take and destroy what’s not theirs.”

He posted the CCTV footage on the Facebook page for the seafront business and asked for help from members of the public to identify the thieves.

He has urged others to please share the post and said a reward will be given on the conviction.

He said he has not reported it to Essex Police yet, but plans to do so.

It happened overnight between October 15 and 16.
