STEVE Flynn hit a hat-trick as Poppies emphatically progressed to the second round of the FA Vase.

His treble was added to by strikes from Mickey Finch, Charlie Langston and Ali Zintany as the hosts sealed a commanding 6-0 win over South West Peninsula League Newquay.

The result meant Poppies scooped £825 in prize money and set up a trip to Baffins Milton Rovers on Saturday, November 3.

Baffins overcame Bashley to earn their place in the draw. Cameron Beard struck what proved to be a consolation for Bash in a 2-1 home loss.

Sean Wright and Dan Cann both scored to send Hamworthy United through after a 2-1 triumph at Shaftesbury.

Callum Brooks’s side will host South West Peninsula League Falmouth Town in the next round, where £900 is up for grabs for the winner.

Brockenhurst will host Western League Bradford Town in round two after they overcame Longwell Green Sports 3-1 away from home.

Matt Burt, Jude Nwachukwu and Leon Carbayo-Borges found the net for Badgers.

Meanwhile, Poole Town will face Frome Town in the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy. Wimborne will visit Basingstoke Town.

The fixtures will be played on Saturday, October 27, with the winner receiving £3,250 in prize money.
